Custom-made shirts for professional wear: how to choose wrinkle-free shirt fabrics

2020-11-10

As the weather gradually cools down, the custom clothing industry is entering a new peak season. High-end wrinkle-free shirts are a favorite autumn garment for white-collar workers. For custom-made business shirts, how do you choose the fabric for a wrinkle-free shirt? The suitability of a shirt depends primarily on its fit. Let's take a look at the clothing factory's introduction.

1. Fabric

Shirt cotton is more comfortable than other fabrics, but an unsuitable structure can significantly detract from it. Excess fabric in the abdomen will ruin the overall lines of a business suit. If you are tall, a custom tailor will tighten the side seams or take in the back waist to reduce the size, so this detail needs to be considered during tailoring. If you gain weight or have a protruding abdomen, the darts can be removed. The length of the shirt is easily overlooked because it is low in the line of sight; it should be at least 15cm long from the waist down to stay tucked in during movement. Too long, and it will bunch up in the trousers.

2. Sleeves

For shirt sleeves, they should show 1.2cm outside the suit sleeves, usually extending 3.8cm beyond the wrist. Proper sleeves will not change with arm movement; therefore, the sleeves must be long enough, and the cuff at the wrist must be snug and look neat and elegant.

3. Buttons

The sword-shaped sleeve vent is a legacy of the British sleeve style. There will be a functional button in the middle of the sword-shaped sleeve vent, which can be used to close the opening when wearing the shirt.

Shirts are also often custom-made business attire for unified companies, and the placket buttons are also important. Nowadays, most buttons are made of artificial materials; the standard for custom shirt buttons is pearl material. Unfortunately, pearl buttons are more fragile than artificial ones, but their exquisite luster makes up for their fragility. Moreover, a discerning gentleman will not mind the effort of replacing buttons every so often.
